Alberta

Canada's Promised Land

Alberta is the fourth largest province in Canada. Smack in the middle of a transition zone, the province has prairies and the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, as well as forests and numerous lakes, rivers and streams. Alberta receives more days of sunshine than any other province in Canada, and average temperatures range from 15C to 23C (60F to 73F) in summer and -8C to -25C (18F to -13F) in winter.

In Alberta you'll find world-famous natural areas of Jasper and Banff National Park and the world's second largest national park, Wood Buffalo National Park, also home to the world's largest herd of free roaming bison. Alberta has the largest ski area in Canada at Lake Louise and hosts the world-famous Calgary Stampede, which draws people from around the globe each year.

Edmonton, Alberta's capital, is home to the world's largest shopping and entertainment complex, West Edmonton Mall.

Fishing, canoeing, climbing, biking, golfing, hiking, bird watching, horseback riding and white water rafting are all popular in Alberta. In winter, enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and dog sledding.
