Alberta and the Prairies

Adventure in the flat of the land

Alberta and the Prairies are located right in the centre of the country between British Columbia and Ontario. Canada's 'Prairie Provinces' of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are stunning and diverse, collectively offering mountains, valleys, forests, prairies and lakes.

Alberta and the Prairies are known for its fertile agricultural land and rich energy resources. Alberta is Canada 's major producer of oil and natural gas and has a large coal mining industry.

Saskatchewan produces oil, natural gas, uranium and potash, while Manitoba is the most significant source of hydroelectric power in the Prairie region. The Prairies are flat plains that stretch across the southern part of these provinces. This area has few trees and fertile soil and is used mainly for crop farming and raising cattle. The northern and western parts of the region, however, have rolling hills, valleys and rivers.

Adventure travel is limitless here. With only about 2.1 million people living in an area covering over a half-million square miles (804 672 sq km) , there is a lot of space here, perfect for your next adventure vacation! Getting here is easy - the major cities have international airports, and you can also reach the prairies by train, bus or car.
