Ski Vacations in Ontario

Ontario offers outstanding alpine ski opportunities with the majority of resorts located within a short drive of major cities. All of Ontario's major resorts feature snowmaking capabilities to ensure a long season.

Blue Mountain Resort, Ontario's largest alpine ski region, is located one and half hours from Toronto along the picturesque shores of Georgian Bay in the community of Collingwood. Blue Mountain has 30 runs and over 700 vertical feet (213 m) and boasts a newly built village at the bottom of the slopes.

Talisman Mountain Resort is somewhat smaller than Blue Mountain with 18 slopes. It is a quaint ski hill that tends to have fewer skiers than other resorts in the area.

Horseshoe Resort, north of Barrie, is nestled in Horseshoe Valley. It's a natural snow belt area surrounded by beautiful forests and it offers varied terrain for both beginners and more experienced ski enthusiasts.

Nearby, Mount St. Louis Moonstone is one of Canada's largest independently owned ski areas.

Smaller centres offering onsite accommodation along with challenging slopes include Hidden Valley Resort, Searchmont, and Calabogie Peaks, in Canada's capital region of Ottawa.

Ski Vacations in Québec

Québec boasts some of the best skiing east of the Rocky Mountains and is a great downhill ski destination with its French Canadian culture and rolling hills.

The majority of the skiing in Québec is in three regions: the Laurentian Mountains (northwest of Montréal), the Québec City area and the Eastern Townships of Montreal.

The Laurentian Mountains are home to Mont Tremblant, with over 90 runs, and plenty of lodges, resorts, hotels and Mont Blanc (with 36 solid runs).

Just outside historical Québec City, Mont-Sainte-Anne is popular with locals and tourists alike for Canada's highest vertical night skiing action.

Nearby are the charming and challenging resorts of Stoneham and Le Massif. Snuggled in the heart of a horseshoe-shaped valley Stoneham offers 30 trails on four mountains. Le Massif offers the highest vertical drop and the most abundant snowfall east of the Canadian Rockies.

The Eastern Township is home to Mont Orford, Owl's Head and Mont Sutton, boasting 140 downhill runs between them.

Mont Orford is known for its fast-paced, challenging runs. It sports 230 acres 93 hectares of skiing terrain spread across three mountain peaks. Owl's Head is cobwebbed by trails with spectacular views and Mont Sutton offers scenic 'glade' skiing on forest trails.
